This branch was originally built by the El Paso & Southwestern Railroad, and then became part of the SP. It branched off the Benson-Douglas line at Lewis Springs, heading west through Sierra Vista (formerly known as Fry) to Fort Huachuca.
While some traces of ballast and ties can be seen through Sierra Vista, this branch was never built for heavy use and the former right of way is difficult to locate in some places. It was in service at least until the 1970s.
